COMMUNITY FASHION PILOT

2016

This personal research and development project, initiated in 2016, aimed to explore the potential for creating a community-focused fashion label called the Many. The concept revolved around partnering with charities and community groups that support marginalized individuals in the UK, working collaboratively with their audiences to design textiles for our garments and accessories. The goal was to celebrate the creative talents of individuals while also providing them with a platform to support themselves and others.

Through this initiative, we sought to uncover and showcase the latent creativity within our communities while raising funds for our charitable partners by selling unique fashion items and accessories. In 2016, I partnered with Heart n Soul to pilot this concept, collaborating with artist Ifeoma Orjiekwe. Together, we developed a series of textiles and garments. This collaboration not only highlighted the artistic capabilities of marginalized individuals but also aimed to foster a sense of community and empowerment through fashion, ultimately paving the way for a more inclusive and socially conscious approach to the industry.
